Our History
LaClef Construction is a third-generation post frame building company. It began in 1996 when a laid-off father of three, Scott LaClef, was approached by a friend and Wick-area manager named Eldon Petersen. Eldon asked Scott if he wanted to start building Wick buildings as a sub-contractor. Scott agreed and started erecting buildings with a 4020 tractor with a post-hole digger on the back and a loader bucket with a makeshift boom attachment. Scott enlisted the help of his father and father-in-law for a couple of years. Eventually, Scott was able to buy his first skid loader and hire a couple of full-time employees.
Zeb and Zane both helped Scott, their dad, through their high school years and during summer breaks. Zeb went full time in 2005 and was married in 2007. He has worked there and supported his growing family for nearly 13 years and built hundreds of Wick buildings. Zeb worked in law enforcement for two years while helping Scott part-time. He returned to full-time work in 2014 and began growing the contracting side of the business. In 2019, Zeb started LaClef Construction, LLC as a way to expand its services to a larger customer base and help support the ever-growing LaClef family. Zane has helped Scott and Zeb for about eight years. During this time, he served five years in the Marine Corps and attained the rank of sergeant.
